This 12 gauge buckshot load from Barnes Bullets is one of the best options on the market for home defense/personal protection. This load is low-recoil, and features buffered lead pellets. The pellet count and diameter provide perfect penetration and a reliably ideal pattern, even out of unchoked shotguns, which is very impressive.
